The IPO-Policy Board effectively symbolises the Spirit of Public- Private Partnership which, in fact, is the new paradigm of participative governance in Pakistan. It also combines the finest expertise of public administration and corporate management in the best national interest. During its very first year (2005) the IPO Policy Board has held three meetings against an annual requirement of at least two:-

1. August, the 11th, 2005.
2. November, the 28th, 2005.
3. December, the 29th, 2005.
4. December, the 28th, 2006.
   

In its first two meetings, the IPO Policy Board addressed the most critical areas relating to the initial setting up of the new Orgonisation namely: -

1. Budget;
2. Organisation;
3. Administration;
4. Core Objectives;
5. Salary Package;
6. Staff Qualifications;
7. Delegation of Powers;
8. Need for Reform of IP Registries;
9. Capacity Building Requirements; and
10. Initial setting up requirements:-
    • Start-up team of officers
    • Appointment of IP Expert

The 3rd meeting of the IP0 Policy Board was dedicated to enforcement coordination. All the enforcement agencies namely FIA, Pakistan Customs, Directorate General of Customs Intelligence, Police, Law and Justice Division, were present.

The fourth meeting of the IPO Pakistan Policy Board was held at IPO headquarters Islamabad on December 28, 2006. Some of the important Agenda Items discussed during this Meeting are as follows:-

1. Performance Review;
2. Promotion of Staff of IP Registries;
3. Creation of Additional Posts in IP Registries;
4. Pension Payment of Retiring Staff of IP Registries;
5. Need for Recruitment/Deputation of Staff in IPO HQ;
6. Quality Support Staff for IPO HQ;
7. Office Building for IP Registries in Karachi;
8. Reconstruction of Copyright Board;
9. Training and Awareness Programs under IPO's Capacity Building Initiative; and
10. Computerization of Data Bases of IP Registries.
