  Roundtable Discussion with US Experts on Improvement of IPR Enforcement in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, November 28, 2018: Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan in collaboration with Economic Affairs Section, US Embassy, Islamabad organized a Roundtable Discussion with US experts on improvement of IPR Enforcement in Pakistan wherein a number of senior officers from judiciary, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) participated in the discussion.

The purpose of this Roundtable Discussion was exchange of information between experts from Pakistan and USA on national experiences relating to institutional arrangements concerning IPR enforcement policies and regimes, including mechanism to resolve intellectual property (IP) disputes in a balanced, holistic and effective manner.

All the participants contributed to the discussion effectively wherein overlaps among the role of enforcement agencies and collaborative responses were identified. Further, the discussion was made on evidence to prosecute a case and injunction orders wherein judiciary explained the specific cases.

The roundtable discussion was ended with this accord that such meeting should be arranged regularly so that coherence among the agencies be improved in respect of their designated role in enforcement of IP rights.
