Mr. Mujeeb Ahmed Khan, the newly appointed Chairman of the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan paid a visit to the OICCI today, the 2nd of July 2018. He assured the OICCI that the improvement in enforcement of IPR in the country is priority agenda of the organization. “Without effective IPR enforcement, we cannot create investment conducive environment in the country”, he said during his visit to OICCI. We have already started inter provincial and inter organizational coordination for this purpose. We are also compiling the enforcement related data for effective coordination and policy formulation he added. He informed the participants that he had started working to make IPO Pakistan an effective organization that can meet the expectation of its stakeholders and promote IP culture in Pakistan. The issues related to HR, updating of laws and automation of processes are being addressed with the cooperation of the Federal Government. He was also focusing on the strengthening of linkages between public organization, academia and the industry not only to promote innovation in the country but also to encourage commercialization of those inventions, he further added. Earlier he was briefed about the working of the OICCI and its members. He was informed that the chamber was established in 1860 and is the only chamber which was visited by Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The Chamber also shared the OICCI’s IPR Survey 2017 with the Chairman. They also extended their support to him in the promotion and strengthening of IPR management in the country.
