ISLAMABAD, June 24, 2019: Intellectual Property Organization (IPO-Pakistan) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have vowed to overcome the menace of piracy in the country while enforcing copyright.
The understanding came during two-day training sessions jointly organized by IPO-Pakistan and FIA for newly recruited inspectors of FIA at FIA academy.
Mr. Muhammad Ismail, Director (Enforcement) IPO-Pakistan and Ms. Umme Salma, Deputy Director (Enforcement) delivered lectures on IP Management and IPR enforcement during these sessions. Special focus was given to copyright enforcement by FIA in the light of national and international legal instruments.
Syed Fareed Ali, DIG and Director FIA, North addressing the closing ceremony highlighted the importance of IP for economic development of Pakistan. He upraised the trainee officers about the role of FIA for effective enforcement and its impact on international perception of the country.
IPO-Pakistan and FIA have effective coordination not only at the forum of IPR Enforcement Coordination Committees but also developing capacity of FIA officers at all levels to understand and enforce copyrights to address the menace of piracy.
