Meeting on the working of Technology and Innovation Support Centres (TISCs) in Peshawar Region

PESHAWAR, December 20, 2019: Working of Technology and Innovation Support Centres (TISCs) will be strengthened in the KPK to enhance innovation and invention culture in the region. Development of new technologies in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Medical (STEM) will be accelerated in KPK through different activities i.e. training sessions, awareness workshops, innovation competitions, incubation activities and media campaign.

The decision was made during a meeting between IPO-Pakistan and TISC focal persons from the University of Peshawar; University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar; Khyber Medical University, Peshawar; Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan and PASTIC.  

The meeting was informed that TISC centres are already working at University of Peshawar; University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar and PASTIC while Khyber Medical University, Peshawar and Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan have been selected in the second phase and shortly TISC will be working there.

Meeting was chaired by Mr. Muhammad Naseer, Executive Director and senior officers from IPO-Pakistan, University of Peshawar; University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar; Khyber Medical University, Peshawar; Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan and PASTIC.

IPO-Pakistan in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC) and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) established a network of Technology and Support Centres (TISC) in Pakistan to educate the researchers, entrepreneurs, faculty members and SMEs on Patent information available in national and international databases and other matters related to registration and management of intellectual property. The said meeting was part of series of activities under this initiative
