Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan and Punjab Information Technology Board will collaborate to promote innovation & inventions and their commercialization in Pakistan. An MoU between both the organizations was signed on 10th September, 2018 at Arfa Software Technology Park Lahore.
IPO Pakistan is working for the registration, administration and enforcement of IP laws including copyright, trademarks, patents and design. Whereas the Punjab Information Technology Board PITB is established by Government of the Punjab to digitize the governance and promote entrepreneurship in Punjab.
As per MoU both the organizations will initiate and promote cooperation for promotion and commercialization of inventions & innovations. They will conduct joint awareness raising sessions on IP Rights. Seminars, conferences, workshops on intellectual property issues will be organized all over the Punjab. Moreover, allowing reciprocal access to research facilities, like libraries, electronic resources, etc. is also part of the understanding.
The officially signing of MoU took place at Arfa Software Technology Park, Mujeeb Ahmed Khan the Chairman IPO and Dr. Umar Saif Chairman PITB singed the documents. Dr. Umar Saif said, “This collaboration can create synergic effect to hoist innovation culture in Pakistan, we need the support of each other to promote and commercialize our inventions".
Mr. Mujeeb added “we are working for the promotion of knowledge based economy. It can be achieved only with a strong liaison between public intuitions, academia and the industry.
