ISLAMABAD, Sep 30 – Oct -1, 2020: Two-day virtual meeting of Consultations on the Report on the Situation of Women Inventors in Pakistan on their Access to and Use of the Intellectual Property System concluded with a high note to encourage women inventors in Pakistan.
Mr. Meesaq Arif, Executive Director, IPO-Pakistan moderated the session, jointly organized by World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Intellectual Property Organization (IPO-Pakistan).
Representatives from women chambers, universities, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEDA), legal service providers attended the online session and highlighted the issues faced by women inventors and innovators.
IPO, Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) and Higher Education Commission (HEC) agreed to form a committee which will monitor and suggest how to encourage women innovators for filing their patents. IPO and HEC also agreed to reinforce future collaboration.
WIPO offered services such as training assistance in patent drafting, drafting of IP policies for universities and asked women inventors to explore WIPO’s Inventor Assistance Program (IAP). WIPO also offered technical assistance to Pakistan.
